Now we all know that MZP doesn’t do a lot of weddings, and that’s because I only do them for referral clients. Meaning the bride or groom needs to know someone I know (a personal friend of mine, a client, etc). Earlier this spring I was contacted by Kristin (whose sister has worked with a local photographer that knows me) about shooting her wedding to Gabe in April. This April…specifically, last Sunday. They were engaged in January and the Pastor they wanted to marry them has a crazy busy schedule…I mean running a church of over 15,000 members keeps a man busy!

Lucky for Kristin and Gabe…I don’t usually shoot on Sundays! And after meeting with Kristin, her mom, and her sister I was thrilled when they selected me to shoot the big day! I had some amazing help from my second shooters, a gorgeous sunny, blue sky day, and seriously all the prettiest people on the planet gathered for this event!

Kristin and Gabe aren’t even home from their honeymoon yet, but I know they’ll be excited to find their images waiting for them when they return! And I couldn’t very well talk all about this wedding without showing off some favorites!

I love changing up my game a bit to capture adults, you know people who don’t actually run from the camera and can take direction? And I love capturing an engagement session, because without even trying – even when the guy wishes he was somewhere else, anywhere else besides a garden on a Tuesday afternoon – they look so in love through my lens (because really he adores her, just not being photographed).

If you follow this blog, you already know Angela and Danny…well maybe you don’t recognize them, but their son Carter is one of my most adorable babyplanners. And this October I have the honor of capturing their wedding!

Today was nothing short of stellar – Angela is gorgeous, and the girl has a great sense of what kind of clothes photograph best, I mean seriously the cream and turquoise dress is to die for! And even Danny’s perfectly worn jeans (his favorite, from what I hear) were just right for the shoot. I knew when I opened these images it would be impossible to choose only a few favorites to share…and I was right. So Angela, who has been waiting (maybe not so) patiently, enjoy this extended look at today’s session…

I love sessions where the clients are up for anything, totally understand my wacky ways, and let me do whatever I want!! Sunrise on the deck of a parking garage…kisses and whispers in the middle of downtown…giggles and some heavy leaning in an alley…using an old adandoned warehouse for some funk…you get the idea! Plus, Kelly got up this morning to have her hair and makeup professionally done before the shoot…this girl meant business, and these two totally rocked it!

Meet Kelly and Robert. In January I’ll be capturing their wedding, but today I had the pleasure of documenting their love…so, stinkin’ cute together! Thanks for the laughs…I hope the cake tasting was yummy!! Can’t wait to see you all again soon!

On Friday I had the pleasure of joining Gina and Matt (and her mom) as they exchanged vows in a very private ceremony in Southlake. Afterwards we celebrated their marriage with a couples photo session in Southlake and Grapevine…it is so easy to tell how much they love each other! Thank you so much for sharing your day with me, and congratulations on your marriage!

Whitney and Aaron had a fairy tale wedding yesterday…gorgeous details, an amazing dress…and of course, they were both stunning and so in love! I haven’t even scratched the surface of the images from yesterday, but I had to post just a few for them before they leave for their honeymoon tomorrow! Huge post of images coming in the next week…

Whitney and Aaron are set to be married in just two weeks…which means this “engagement” session is a little late! LOL! These Baylor Bears have a been spending a great deal of time apart as Aaron played professional basketball in his home country of Australia last winter. There is such an amazing connection between them, one that you cannot fake for the camera…just that special something that makes people stop and look in their direction (and you can bet we had plenty of that today!).

We started in Deep Ellum…casual and fun, where anything goes. Then headed to downtown Dallas and on to this insanely gorgeous field of wheat growing down the road from their house – it was the perfect day for this type of session, and as you can see we weren’t short on emotion…be prepared to be overloaded, I had the hardest time narrowing it down!

Thanks Whit and Aaron for a great afternoon…hope dinner was great! Can’t wait to capture the big day!

I had the incredible opportunity to photograph Sara and Drew tonight – married just three months – and willing to do just about anything during the “day after” shoot. A shoot designed to show the newlyweds off, in their wedding attire, after being married a short bit.

It was an absolute pleasure to shoot them – could they be any more gorgeous?!?!

Earlier this year I posted about offering my services for free to a worthy couple for their 2008 wedding (http://melissazihlmanphotography.blogspot.com/2008/02/ree_2146.html). Landon and Courtney won the contest, and in two weeks I’ll be shooting their wedding at a fabulous sunset ceremony overlooking Lake Grapevine! I can’t wait!

In addition to the wedding photographs, Courtney and I did a bridal session Monday, although I can’t share the images until after the big day! We also met this evening with Landon and their going-to-turn-one-next-week gorgeous daughter Miss K. We did some family shots for their rehearsal dinner…here’s a little sneak peek..
