April 2011 | Purple
(I know, I know it is late…and it is all my fault!!)
From Melissa (photo right): April is a little bit of chaos in this house, it means Easter, the start of spring (which means lots more sessions for MZP), and two growing boys – one of which is crazy involved in activities. I thought the bobble ball below was perfect, we are constantly moving from one thing to the next this month…just trying to make sure we are taking the time to savor every moment as a family.
From Shalonda (photo left): april and the color purple go hand and hand if you are catholic like us, as purple is the color of the Lent. The alter is splashed with purple all season long and serves as a constant reminder of the suffering that Jesus endured for us. As many purple things i had to choose from this month and as many images that i actually took, none seemed more fitting than this one. while april is filled with colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, and pretty dresses, it truly is a time for family moments and for celebration….and for that, we have to all be thankful!

February 2011 | Orange
From Melissa (photo left): February is about the first tastes of spring. Sometimes they arrive as warm 70 degree days just after four days of snow. Sometimes as the first buds begin to appear on the tree. And sometimes, as the sweet taste of a little juicy orange fruit, gobbled up with every meal by a certain (growing too fast!) four year old and his little pint size brother.
From Shalonda (photo right): February…well lets be honest february and the color orange do not go hand in hand…and if we are really being honest than we can all agree that the color orange doesnt really go with anything in my mind, except tsips….i just dont own anything orange, i mean we dont even have one single orange crayon in our house, ha! so i had to fall back to old faithful…food… after months of not being able to buy any good clementines we have finally arrived into february, a hit or miss month in texas when it comes to weather temperature. well february 2011 has brought with it a glimpse of spring, all wrapped up in a sweet, juicy baby orange, that can be peeled easily by a certain 4 year olds little fingers!

I get asked via email all the time about my processing techniques. How do I get my images looking the way they do? I spend a great deal of time after our session custom editing each image – drawing out the true potential of the image. The final product is exactly what I saw in my head when I composed the shot during our session…
So here’s a before and after from my session with E last night. So you know that it isn’t about my camera or equipment, it is about the artistic vision.

I had the opportunity to meet up with about a dozen other DFW photographers yesterday and shoot around…our models were stunning! Such fun to hang out with others who love what you love and shoot just because!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with a photographer from East Texas on Saturday. She and her son wanted some Christmas pictures (Daddy had to work!) – so we headed to Deep Ellum for a little urban mini session! What fun! Beth and Matty were up for anything!
