I’m so excited about a new personal project I’m undertaking, Film Fridays. The last Friday of each month will be a personal post showcasing a roll of film I shot during the month. I’ve teamed up with some amazing women from Bloom so we may challenge each other as we explore this medium. Some of us (myself included) have been shooting film forever, others are developing their first rolls…but we all have a love for capturing life, for stretching ourselves, and for finding the soul in a subject.

having lived here

more than 20 years,

I’m Texan

for sure.

but I don’t do the

State Fair

or Big 12/SEC athletics.

I don’t have big hair,

own cattle,

or live on a ranch.

when it comes to

wildflower season,

however,

I couldn’t be

more

Texan.

this year

my boys

have played in,

and mama’s documented,

indian paintbrush,

mustard weed,

red bonnets,

and the all-too-famous

bluebonnets.

it’s a Texan right of passage,

and one my boys

will experience

year after year.

  • Melissa, these are gorgeous! My cousin (a long-time film photographer) just loaned me one of her film cameras to play with, and I can’t wait. Love, love the tones and colors here. And I love that your boys are throwing rocks, because that’s about all Leo wants to do too. :-)
