What a fabulous giveaway!!! We, too, use seventh generation products. It really is easy to do your part – reusable shopping bags, recycling, natural cleaners, buying local foods – good for you for spreading the word!!

I’d love a chance to hang with you again and if that means having you take my photo, I’m willing to make that sacrifice :)

We’re big fans of composting… it cuts down on the trash we throw out, stops us from buying compost that comes in plastic bags, and seriously helps out the backyard garden!

I’ll bite on this one :) In addition to the usual household things we do to “go green”, my husband and I use our business influence and community involvement to do our part. I serve on a city commission for historic preservation. The conservation and improvement of our existing built resources, including re-use of historic and older buildings, greening the existing building stock, and reinvestment in older and historic communities, is crucial to combating climate change. I also work for a natural gas company (super clean fuel!) and promote weatherization in 37 communities.

My husband works in transportation and works toward the improvement of mass transportation systems to include bike lanes, street cars, light rail, compressed natural gas (cng) fueled vehicles and alternative modes of transportaiton that have less impact on the environment on a regional level.

I know we just had pictures done for our wedding so we’d love to do mother/daughter photos :)

What a wonderful giveaway! My family recycles like crazy to the point where I actually feel quilty throwing something away that could POSSIBLY be recycled. This is something new for me! I would love to win this giveaway not only for the seventh generation products, but for the fabulous session with you! I have been a fan for a long time!

Hi Melissa, this would be a great contest to win..we have another little one to deliver sometime in October and I would love pictures. I recycle at home, pretty much everything. Our recycle container is always fuller than our garbage container. I work in a hospital and we actually recycle. We have a lot of garbage there and I imagine it makes a huge difference when we recycle. I even rinse out the containers. We have special lighting there to save electricity amongst many other ways to be green.

FABULOUS Prize! Come on Random Number Generator – let’s make it a double! We are always looking for ways to be greener here in Jersey (the Garden State, remember??). My contributions are the standard efficient lightbulbs, water conservation, electricity conservation, reusable bags, reusable containers, natural/non-toxic homemade cleaning products, recycling, planting a garden, purchasing locally grown produce during the growing & harvest seasons, buying second-hand/used items & donating our unwanted items, and more! Can’t wait to hear all the great ideas from other commentors!

We recycle cans, containers & newspapers; use the canvas grocery bags; shop at garage sales and donate things we don’t use anymore; turn off the water while brushing teeth; turn off lights when we leave the room, etc. What a great giveaway and fabulous photography and you’re right here in the DFW area!!!! Thanks so much!

This is awesome, Melissa! What a blessing you are to others. Anyways, in our household, we recycle a TON, use canvas bags when grocery shopping, use energy conserving lightbulbs, use natural cleaning products (especially since baby got here), and wrap presents in newspaper and leftover paper bags (which can be way cute). Hope to win – I’d love to get some family shots with my out of state and out of country siblings/parents! :-)

Our family recycles everything, uses reusable canvas bags at the food store, grows veggies, and always shops at the farmer’s market…this has really inspired me to step it up a bit…I love reading everyone’s comments and ideas…So excited to shrink our carbon footprints! Thank you Melissa!

Oh I also teach my students about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling! We have participated in beach clean-ups and park clean ups…Seeing the little ones make a difference is amazing! Thanks again :)

Cherron - 25 April 2010 - 10:08 am

That’s pretty amazing, Melissa! We reuse almost everything from ziploc bags to clothing. I like to make purses, dolls, doll clothes, blankets and other things from old clothes that no one in the family wants to wear, but we also exchange clothing between about five families all the time. Before paper is recycled, the blank side gets used as coloring or drawing paper for the girls. I’d love to start growing my own veggies.

I do several things:

I am a long-time recycler. I have bins set up inside and outside my home and recycle everything I possibly can.

I take public transportation to/from work as much as possible. Not only does it save money and emissions I can spend my time reading or relaxing.

I support companies that are doing their part to be responsible in the manufacturing and packaging process.
